As the Material Change Institute enters its next chapter, we’re as committed as ever to building an investment ecosystem that delivers equal access and stronger returns. At the heart of that ecosystem are our Fellows, faculty, partners and advisors. As we welcome our Class III Cohort, we’re excited to expand our impact in another meaningful way: by naming Victor Reinoso, a philanthropist, activist and investor, to our Board.
“Victor is a dedicated and powerful advocate for diversity and equity. He’s also an innovative leader who has spent his career tackling systemic issues,” says Eve Blossom, Founder/CEO of the Material Change Institute. “Our organization is fortunate to have Victor’s passion for change, expertise and perspective on our Board.”
Rakim Brooks, a Class II Fellow says “Victor Reinoso is exactly the kind of investor many of us hope to be: one compelled by a commitment to making smart investments that benefit the greater good. His ability to traverse the public and private sphere is really remarkable—and he does so with deep humanity and a wicked sense of humor. He’s been a great member of the Material Change community and now, a welcomed addition to the Board. I’m sure he’ll help this remarkable program reach even higher heights.”
A cross-sector entrepreneur and investor, Victor has a track record of shaping transformative change in education, health, climate and investment. As Amazon’s Global Director of Education Philanthropy and Amazon Future Engineer, he actively pursues a more equal and just world. Victor’s impact also extends to the asset management space. He is a Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners and the Founder of Hopscotch Ventures, a firm that invests in projects and entrepreneurs committed to lifting the human spirit.
The son of Peruvian immigrants, Victor grew up in a Spanish-speaking household where his parents instilled a deep respect for ingenuity, education, entrepreneurship and community. He brings this deep-rooted perspective — and a lifetime of powerful advocacy — to the Material Change Board.
“The Material Change Institute is at the forefront of an important issue: systemic change for diversity and equity in investment,” says Victor. “The Material Change Institute is an accelerant. Focusing on how we make investment decisions and who makes investment decisions is crucial to improve the outcomes of capital flow. I am honored to contribute to this mission at a pivotal point in history, on a Board filled with impactful, strategic and thoughtful voices.”
Before joining its Board, Victor helped shape the Material Change Institute’s mission and served as an advisor and moderator. He is a member of the Aspen Global Leaders Network, where he is also a moderator, and the Pahara-Aspen Education Fellowship.
Based in Washington D.C., Victor is a Trustee of the District of Columbia Library. He earned an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BSFS from Georgetown University.
