At the Material Change Institute, we’re passionate about celebrating all the progress we’ve achieved together. But we also know that more work is needed to build a truly equitable investment ecosystem. That’s why we’re constantly looking for new ways to maximize our impact. June is when we celebrate our graduating cohort’s accomplishments and welcome new Fellows to the Material Change family.
Introducing Class IV, Our Largest Class Yet
This summer, we’re thrilled to introduce Class IV, a group of 27 professionals with a shared passion for a capital ecosystem driven by equal representation and equal access. Our Class IV Fellows come from numerous professional backgrounds — from epidemiology and foresight strategy to economic policy and sports business — at various stages of the investment journey. The group includes seasoned angel investors, impact investors, and managing partners at funds; PhDs, entrepreneurs, MDs, and beyond. For the first time, our cohort also includes multiple fellows from the Middle East, enabling us to draw from and uncover new value together.
After onboarding last month, our Class IV Fellows begin their yearlong program today at our 2024 Summit in Toronto. Like Class I, II and III, our newest Fellows will participate in numerous in-person events. At this immersive and dynamic event, Fellows connect with mentors and forge strong connections with peers, startups, Material Change alumni and VCs from across the early-stage investment landscape.
“Our Class IV Fellows are passionate, highly driven and bring unique perspectives that have the power to shape an investment ecosystem that’s different by design,” says Eve Blossom, Material Change Institute’s Founder. “Like the other three classes of Fellows who came before, I know our new Fellows are committed to increasing access and representation in early-stage investment. fellows are the heart of our Institute, and I can’t wait to see all that they achieve together.”
A Capstone on Three Years of Progress
Since launching less than three years ago, we’ve had the privilege to drive progress with so many incredible Fellows. Our inaugural class set an unbelievably high bar, with professionals who brought a true diversity of life experiences and investment focuses. Class II has likewise made a lasting mark on the investment landscape and our community. We have no doubt that our Class III Fellows, who graduate this month, will leverage their unique experiences and skills to uncover new value as investors. One great example is two Class III Fellows, who met through the program, have started a fund together.
The Material Change Institute is home to industry visionaries, seasoned angel and venture capital investors, and experts from top universities. Under the mentorship of esteemed individuals at the helm of some of the most well-respected funds, instructors challenge participants to analyze opportunities, identify value, and apply their unique perspectives in investment management.
We’re proud to celebrate all the accomplishments of our first three classes as we pass the torch to Class IV, our largest group of investment professionals yet. Learn more about our Class IV Fellows and the rich experiences they bring to early-stage investing.
